Project Description

The Working Warriors Program is an innovative employment skills development for Edmonton’s highest risk youth (violent and prolific young offenders) that are involved in the criminal justice system and was created to address the employment and education gap that exists for high risk youth. Youth involved in the program get 40 weeks of employment-related skill development and 12 weeks of supported follow-up. The program aligns with the EPS Youth Strategy to decrease youth crime and victimization, to increase resiliency in youth populations and to support new ideas regarding youth and police interaction. The program is partnered with Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society, EPS Youth Service Section Y:FIVE0 and Alberta Education, Youth Attendance Centre.
